Regulations on continuous professional development (CPD) were approved in 2004 and establish that "every lawyer has an ethical duty to undergo continuous professional development."
CPD is mandatory for both lawyers and trainees.
Requirements:
16 CPD points each judicial year
1 CPD point = 1 hour
BUBA classes (for the certificate of competence required to practice) serve as an equivalent for CPD for trainee lawyers during the first 3 years of traineeship.
